I always wanted to ask, because this isn’t still clear to me. Isn’t an EM wave a wave in the EM field? And doesn’t that field have some value throughout the universe? In that sense, isn’t the field itself the “aether”, although it isn’t material in the sense of a gas? I’d really appreciate a reply, I’m still trying to get this.
